Terms
The agreement between you and Opted when you use our data broker removal service.
Last updated: Draft, not yet in effect
Placeholder: replace before launch
This is draft text so the page can be designed and linked. It hasn’t been reviewed by a lawyer and isn’t our final agreement.
What Opted does
We search people-search sites and data brokers for your personal information. On a paid plan, we send removal requests to the sites that list you, follow up, and show you proof when a site confirms your listing is gone. On the Free plan we show you where you’re listed and how to remove yourself.
Your account
- You must be 18 or older.
- The details you give us must be your own, or belong to someone in your household who has agreed to it.
- Keep your email account secure: anyone who can read it can sign in to Opted.
What we can and can’t promise
- A site shows as Requested once we’ve sent the request, and as Removed only once the site confirms. Some sites take weeks, and a few refuse.
- Sites buy fresh data and can list you again. We keep checking while your plan is active.
- We cover the sites listed on our site, not every site on the internet.
Plans, billing and cancelling
Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly in advance, and renew at the same price until you cancel. We email you 30 days and 7 days before a yearly plan renews. You can cancel any time in Billing; you keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for.
Refunds. You can get a full refund of your first payment until we start working for you: before we run your first search or send your first removal request on the paid plan. After that, we don’t refund payments, including renewals, but you can cancel any time and your plan runs until the end of the period you paid for.
Ending your account
You can ask us to delete your account at any time from the contact page. It deletes your details and results, and cancels any paid plan. We may close accounts used to look up or harm other people.
Liability
[Liability, warranty and dispute wording to be written by a lawyer.]
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll email you before the change takes effect.
